You Have Authority
Throughout the Old Testament, when someone needed to give an offering or needed a word from God, they had to go to a prophet or a priest. Things radically changed with the coming of Christ. With just words, Christ raised dead, healed sick cast out demons and changed lives.
Jesus gave us the authority to do what He did. Luke 9:1-2 says, “Then He called His twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.” There is nothing that we need that can’t be provided for us.
We should not just be selfish when we ask God for the needs of our hearts. Jesus gave us this authority so that others could be blessed as well. I believe the gifts that God have given us are for others. Matthew 10:7-8 says “And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” Not only are we given the authority by Christ Jesus, He is telling us what to do with it.
My husband said something once that made so much sense to me. He was talking about how Christians often say “We are going to take back what to devil stole” What are you waiting for? Take it back! It’s only a few words away. Jesus spoke words and whatever was being asked for came into being. He tells us in John 14:12 that since He did these things, we have the ability to do it also. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
No matter what situations may come in life, we can go to the Father to fix it. We no longer need an intercessor so ”Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
