The Truth About Skinny Jeans

This post has been on my heart for quite a while now. While watching TV one day, I heard a woman on  a commercial say something about ten minutes being longer that the time it took to get into her skinny jeans. Skinny jeans are well…skinny. That’s just it. These jeans are designed to be sexy and show the curves of your body. We as Christian women have no business wearing them. Truthfully, no one has any business wearing them. Besides, what’s the point of wearing pants if you are going to wear a pair so tight, you can see your blood circulation in them? You may as well not wear any at all. I’m not trying to be sarcastic or funny, I want to be as honest and candid as possible. It bothers me to see Christian women walking around with  blindfolds on like it’s OK to wear whatever the world tells them to wear.

I have heard so many so called fashion “experts” say that these jeans are “in”. 1 Corinthians 3:19 tells us that, “the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.” We should look at advice such as this as foolishness as well.

1 Timothy 2:9 says ”In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;” How can you adorn yourself in modest apparel if your jeans are super tight?

As Christian women, we are to set an example for other women. My husband always says “Jesus is the blueprint of mankind”. So, when people see us, they should want to look like us because we should look like Jesus.  We are a chosen generation and a Holy Nation. You can’t look Holy and sexy at the same time…sorry, you just can’t.

1 John 2:16 says “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.“ When you wear something designed to be sexy, you are basically wearing something that entices lust. Why would you want to entice someone to sin?

If you have looked at these jeans and thought they were cute, it is time to ask God to give you a new mind set on things. We are to have a renewed mind. Anything of the world is not of God. “You are just being religious” you might say. No, I’m not. I am simply going by the Word. Like I said, why would want to wear something that entices sin?

Women of God, we have to stop accepting everything the world throws at us. Let’s present our bodies as a living sacrifice to God. Not only Holy but Acceptable as well. (Romans 12:1).
