Being Thankful Part 2 of 2
Thankfulness can turn negative situations around. This can be done by thanking God and focusing on what we have instead of what we don’t have. I remember when my husband and I first moved to Charlotte, NC. We spent our first year living in an extended stay hotel. Our room was like an efficiency apartment. It had a queen sized bed, a sleeper love seat sofa, and a TV all in the same room. The kitchenette had a two-seater dining table, a small refrigerator and an electric stove with two burners. As the year went on, that room seemed to get smaller and smaller
. Eventually, God blessed us and we moved to a bigger place. Our home now has everything on our “wish list” we love it here. Being thankful for what we did have at that time, helped me to believe that God had and has something bigger and better.
Not being thankful can lead to other things like coveting, grumbling and complaining. All of which displeases God. When the children of Israel left Egypt, they often complained about the things they didn’t have and the discomfort they experienced in the wilderness. Uh… HELLO! You were just delivered from a life of slavery and you are headed to a life of abundance. This is how we are sometimes. We forget God saved us from a life of slavery to sin and He rescued our souls from a burning hell. He also has provided us with what we have thus far. Yet we get upset like two-year-olds because we don’t get what we want right now.
