Living Holy in The Midst of Corruption Part 2 of 2
Noah wasn’t sinless. But he led a holy life and walked with God. Genesis 6:9 says “These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.” Walking with God results in holiness. This requires intimacy. Intimacy is a close, familiar, and usually affectionate or loving personal relationship. This goes beyond just reading our Bibles. When we have an intimate relationship with God, our spirits are in tune with Him. Without intimacy, it is just legalism. We then wind up with impossible standards that we try to live up to on our own.
When we have a close relationship with God, we are able to hear and recognize His voice. In Genesis 6:13-14 God gives Noah specific instructions for building the ark. God was preparing to preserve Noah and his family during the flood. Imagine if Noah hadn’t been able to recognize God’s voice. He would have missed these critical instructions. The same goes for us. If we are not able to recognize God’s voice, we are left vulnerable to make mistakes that may affect our lives in major ways.
Through an intimate relationship with God, we are able to hear from Him. Thus allowing us to learn how to live pleasing to Him in a world full of sin and corruption. Just as God preserved Noah from destruction, God will also preserve us from destruction. Living holy in the midst of corruption is to walk close with God and maintain an intimate relationship with Him. Let’s plant seeds of rest to those that don’t know Christ so they too can experience the beauty of living holy and receive true rest from the destruction and death that comes with sin.
