Modest Independence Day Style

Want to show your patriotism without the cheesy stars and stripe t-shirts? I’ve done some brain storming and came up with some stylish ideas for Independence Day. There is no need to run out and spend a bunch of money on something you are only going to wear one day a year. By using simple pieces already in your closet, you can create a stylish Independence Day look.

Use basic colors:

Try to avoid the different variations of reds whites and blues. Use the basic colors. This way, finding things to match them is easier.

Choose pieces in colors that are flattering:

Avoid red bottoms and opt for white or navy blue instead.
Denim is always good when you want to wear blue. Use it for the blue in your outfit and wear red and white to accessorize it.

Keep it simple:

Show your patriotism in a subtle way rather than loud stars and stripes everywhere.
If you want to wear stars and stripes, wear them in your accessories. For example, find a cute pair of sandals with stars on them. Or go for a belt that has stripes.
Be consistent with your patterns rather than wearing them all at the same time. For example, if you are going to wear stars, stick with stars. If you are going to wear stripes, stick with stripes.
If you wear all three colors in one piece, wear them in your accessories.
Break patterns up with solids.
Keep busy patterns to a bare minimum.
