Freedom Found in Jesus Christ Part 2 of 2
Freedom is only found in faith in Jesus Christ. When we talk about this, we often used words like “salvation”, “delivered”, “set free”. When you look at some of the definitions of these words, you can see why and how it is that we are freed from sin through Jesus.
- Salvation- “The act of saving or protecting from harm, risk, loss, destruction, etc.” Jesus freed us by satisfying the demands of the broken law. In the Old Testament, when someone broke a law, they were stoned to death or a sin offering had to be made. When a sin offering was made, an animal was sacrificed and the blood shed by that animal rectified the sin. Because Jesus died on the cross for our sins, the price for sin doesn’t have to be paid if we repent and believe on Him.
- Delivered- “To give into another’s possession or keeping; surrender” When we are delivered from sin, we surrender our lives to God. Our souls are given into the possession of Him and taken from the possession of the devil. Thus making us bound for Heaven to live eternally and not bound for hell to be tormented by death.
- Set Free- “Having immunity or being safe” When we are set free from sin, we are safe from hell and death as mentioned above.
Galatians 5:1 says “For freedom did Christ set us free: stand fast therefore, and be not entangled again in a yoke of bondage.” Once we depend on Jesus as the sole source of our freedom, it is then our responsibility to stand in that liberty and not waiver by giving in to the temptation to become bound by sin again. True freedom only comes from God. The world will have you to believe that living bu your own rules an doing things your way is freedom. However, this is deception from the enemy. Jesus said in John 8:36 “If therefore the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” My sister, there is nothing in this world that can offer you freedom.
Because Jesus is able to save to the uttermost (Hebrews 7:25).
