Share Your Testimony Part 1 of 2
Did you know that the things you have gone through and the life you lived before coming to Christ can help someone else? When we go through hardships and God brings us out of them, those experiences can bring faith and encouragement to others that may go through the same or similar situations. It is easier to encourage others in the areas that we ourselves have gone through.
I have often heard the saying, “Your mess can be your message”. When we struggle with sin and God brings us deliverance, it can then be used to help someone else struggling with the same things. One example can be found in Acts chapter 26. While addressing Agrippa regarding the charges brought against him, Paul uses his mess as his message. He starts at the beginning of his life and describes the mindset that he had before coming to Christ. Acts 26:9 says “Indeed, I myself thought I must do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.” He openly admitted that he was against Christianity and gives details of the things he did to try to stop this belief. After that, he describes his experience on the road to Damascus. Verse 19 says “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision” He describes his deliverance and tells how God changed his life. I believe that Paul’s testimony ministered to Agrippa. In verse 28, Agrippa tells Paul that he is almost persuaded to become a Christian.
No matter what you have done in your previous life, it can be used to minister to others. Many times, shame will stop us from telling others about where God has brought us from. I believe this is the enemy’s way of attempting to block others from hearing about God’s mercy and grace. If he can stop others from hearing about the availability of deliverance, that will be one more person he can keep in bondage to sin.
