Woe Is Me!! Part 2 of 2
Whining and complaining won’t get us anywhere with God. In fact, when we complain about our situations, we block future blessings that God has for us. This is because complaining not only shows lack of faith, it shows lack of spiritual maturity. If we can’t handle the trials and tribulations that come with the level that we are currently on, how will we be able to handle what comes with the future blessings of God? (See post titled “New Level New Devil…Really”) My husband often says “Your attitude determines your altitude”. If we don’t maintain and attitude of gratitude, we will not get any farther than we already are.
Even though the children of Israel often complained about their circumstances, God’s grace was present in every situation. Whenever they complained about a situation, God still showed mercy on them by providing whatever it was they were in need of. This does not give us license to complain though. God may help us along the way with the little issues, but, our complaining can affect the bigger picture. I say this because the children of Israel spent 40 years making what would have been and 11 day trip. They continued to go around the same mountain because they didn’t maintain an attitude of gratitude.
We can look at the children of Israel as if they are a mirror image of the way we sometimes act. Yes, we know all of the faith scriptures and we know all of the cliched quotes we have picked up along our christian walk, but when it gets down to the nitty gritty, we act just like they did on their journey to promised land. Ladies, let’s make up our minds to stop going around the same mountains over and over again. The tests and trials that come to us build our character and grow us up. Besides, we have already tried complaining and we see that it is not going to fix anything. Let’s give our problems to God and praise Him for what He has done and what He will do.
