The Crock Pot

A couple of years ago, my husband bought a crock pot. I had never used one before and was eager to try it out. I searched for good recipes online, found a couple, tried them, and they turned out ok. Then, I began to get creative. Soon, I realized that life in the kitchen would never be the same.

Ladies, if you don’t already have a crock pot, I highly recommend this appliance. It’s super easy to use and cuts time in the kitchen down. With the kids getting ready to go back to school, and summer getting ready to wind down, this gadget will make things a lot easier for you moms-on-the-go. When you think of crock pot, you probably just think soup,stew and chili right? Well, there is so much more you can do with a crock pot. I don’t think there’s anything you can’t cook in it.

My husband likes tender ribs. So, I thaw the meat overnight, season it up, and put it in the crock pot with a little water. After about 4-8 hours it’s falling off of the bone. The only things left to do now are the side dishes. When the sides are almost done, I take the ribs out and put the sauce on them; I pop them under the oven broiler for about 2 minutes or so, and I have a complete meal. I only spent about 20 minutes in the kitchen at  most. This can be done with steak, chicken, or even pork.

Did you know that you can even make dessert? Yes dessert.  Crock pots are great for slow cooked peach cobblers, pudding, and even cakes. The possibilities are endless.

If you have to make a large quantity of something, it could take a long time if you have limited oven space. But, using a crock pot can help you prepare a large amount with little effort. I have also found that they are not very expensive at all. It would be great kitchen investment and your family will thank you for it.
