Sharing Your Faith Part 1 of 2
Upon hearing the phrase “Sharing your faith”, the fist thing that may come to mind is sharing the gospel with others. But, there is another way we can share our faith. When we pray, we have faith that God is going answer our prayers…right? Well, when we “share” our faith, we use our faith in prayers for others.
It can be easy to get caught up in our own needs. Everyday life can sometimes burden us and fill our thoughts and concerns. We can’t forget that just as life burdens us, it burdens our friends, loved ones and acquaintances as well. Philemon 4 gives us an example of a fellow Christian being mindful of others in prayer. It says “I thank God, making mention of you always in my prayers,” I noticed here that the word always was used. Many times, we only remember to pray for others when we have heard they are in need. But, when we pray for others always, we remember to pray for them during the good times as well.
Another time we often only remember to pray for others is when we are praying for someone to give their life to Christ. While this is something we should pray for, we must remember to pray for fellow believers as well. Just as we labor, they too labor for the Kingdom of God. As being part of one Body (the body of Christ), it is important that we not only look after one another in the natural, but in the spiritual as well. Prayer is a way of doing that.
