Don’t Run From The Truth Part 2 of 2
Have you ever wondered why those that tell the truth or “keep it real” are often the most controversial? That is because correction doesn’t “feel” good. Hebrews 12:11 says “All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.” The whipping hurts at first. But after we wipe our tears and heed the correction, we can then see the fruit it produces later on. If you notice, those that do deliver the true uncompromising word of God are the ones people tend to listen to and respect more.
There are many scriptures in the book of Proverbs about receiving correction and wisdom. It is important that we walk in wisdom and we are able to take correction. No one wants to hear that they are in error, but we can’t always be so sensitive and be easily offended. When we run from correction, we are no different than those that seek out teachers for their itching ears because they can’t endure sound doctrine (see 2 Timothy 4:3-4)
Correction only helps us grow spiritually stronger. Without it, we would continue to walk in blind foolishness never producing spiritual fruit . As Christians, we will go through many trials that will require us to suck it up. Let’s not run from God’s correction, but rather take it as spiritual vitamins.
