Dancing Before The Lord By Lora Allison Part 2 of 2

…Continued

King David had a heart of worship. He spent many of his days on the hillsides with only his sheep and his harp, singing praises to his God. He chose to praise and worship even in times of great distress of fear. He brought the ark of the Lord into a new dwelling place where he instituted Levites to praise and worship the Lord twenty-four hours a day. He was not afraid to dance out this exuberant and joyous praise publicly, which was not exactly kingly behavior in those days.

“Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous; and shout for joy all you upright in heart!” (Ps. 32:11). The Hebrew word gul is translated here as “rejoice”. It literally means, “to spin around under the influence of violent emotion.” Gul is the same word translated “rejoice” when we read about the Lord’s expressive demonstration over us: “The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing” (Zeph 3:17).

God Himself, the King of All Kings, spins around us in exultant love. He loved us first. How much more then should we exult before Him in extravagant and unmeasured love for His boundless mercy, love and adoration of Him with daces, with shouts of joy, and with singing. That very outpouring will bring Him closer to you than your own heartbeat, as He inhabits the praises of His people (see Ps. 22:3).

Dance before Him as David did!
