False Doctrines Part 1 of 2
I often watch various documentaries that investigate things in the Bible. There is always one group that says things that happened in the Bible didn’t really happen. Since science can’t explain it, then it didn’t happen. Or, if man can’t find “evidence” then it didn’t happen. I believe God’s word is true and that those things really did happen. I don’t need scientific evidence to prove it to me. I have God’s evidence. It’s called faith. With so many different opinions about God and the Bible, we must be sure to avoid false doctrines.
Jesus warned His disciples about false doctrines in Matthew 16:5-12. In verse 6 Jesus tells them “Take heed. Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees”. The disciples thought He was saying this because they had forgotten to bring bread. I thought that was funny. Here it is, Jesus is talking about something really important, and the disciples have their minds on their stomachs. When Jesus perceived that they thought He was talking about food, He corrected them and made it clear that He wasn’t talking about physical bread, but telling them to beware of false doctrines. This was not only a warning to them, but to us too.
