Living in The Possible Part 1 of 3
Many of us pretty much have our lives planned out. We know what goals we would like to accomplish and we may even have a time set for those goals. Planning is good. There is nothing wrong with having an agenda and being organized. However, we must be careful to not live in the possible.
Honestly, I think living the possible is boring. It is very predictable and mundane. When we choose to live in the possible, we are lord. We do only what we can see the outcome of and we never step out on faith. Living the impossible is making God Lord. It’s taking that step out on faith and obedience. You don’t really know if you are capable of doing it but you know that God is capable of doing it all. You are really relying on Him as your safety net. Sadly, most of God’s people live in the possible. We can stay there if we want to. But, living in the impossible allows us to see what God has for us.
Jesus said in Matthew 9:26 “With men this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible.” I was reminded the other day of the way God made things come together when my husband and I moved here to North Carolina. We had everything set in order. Prior to our final move, we came here and stayed for two weeks. We were basically scouting the land. After deciding this was where we wanted to live, we went back to our hometown, loaded the rest of our things up and put Michigan behind us. We had our finances together, we knew where we were going to be staying, and we even knew where we were going to work. Yes, we had it all figured out. God showed us that He had something else planned for us.
Within a week’s time, our finances fell through. This caused a snowball effect on everything else we had planned. Our living situation became unstable and finding a quick job was out because we didn’t even have enough gas to get to a place where a job could be offered. We were taken out of the possible and quickly thrown into the impossible. The only thing we could do was put our trust in God and pray. God made everything come together for us. He brought the finances in at the right time, He gave us a way to get food, and we even were blessed to be able to move to a better hotel. From that time on, God has always provided for us. I thank God that we have never been in a situation like that again. Job 9:10 says that God does “great things past finding out”. God makes things happen that we can’t even begin to understand how.
