“I’m So Dirty” Part 2 of 2
Yesterday, we left off discussing how Jesus loves us regardless of our pasts. In a post titled “Taking Our Place”, I talked about how Jesus taking the place of Barabbas on the cross was a natural example of what He did for all of us when He died on the cross. In John 4, Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well. This situation can also be looked at as a natural example of Jesus’ experience with us.
During these times, Jews had no dealings with Samaritans. However in John 4:7 says “A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.”” I suppose it took the woman by surprise because she asked Jesus why was He talking to her because Jews didn’t deal with Samaritans. But Jesus said to her, ““If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” When she asks Jesus for the living water, He prophesies to her about her lifestyle after asking about her husband and hearing her reply saying “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.” Jesus knew this woman’s “mess” yet, He still wanted to help her. Jesus taught her about true worship and I believe she left that well a changed woman. She even began to tell everyone in the city saying “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”. Many others received Christ also. So, not only was this woman changed, God used her so that others could be changed as well.
There is no one on this earth that has seen everything we’ve ever done. I’m sure if there were, they wouldn’t want to hang around us. Or, they would use it against us to slander and hurt us. God is the only one that has seen everything we’ve ever done. But, He still loves us. He wants to be a part of our lives. I often talk about how the enemy deceives some into thinking they have sinned so much that they cannot be forgiven. This is a ploy to keep them from the truth. I believe John 3:16-17 is one of the most popular bible scriptures. Yet the enemy has deceived many into thinking that they cannot be forgiven. No matter what you have done, God loves you and doesn’t want you to perish.
Repent, receive His forgivness and be washed in the blood of the lamb
