God Get’s It Done Part 2 of 2
As we saw yesterday, when we willingly let God into our boat of life, we will arrive at our destinations in far less time than if we attempt it on our own. Cliched statements like “take it to the Lord in prayer” or “let go and let God” seem to uplift and encourage us. However, they are often like the sower’s seed that fell on stony ground. The cares of life come and choke out the good fruit before it has a chance to take root (see Mark 4:3-9). How long will we continue to go around the same mountain of failure until we wise up and realize that God get’s it done?
Ezra 8:21-23 is another good example of how when we rely on God, He will get the job done. Rebuilding the temple of the Lord was complete and the children of Israel were returning from their captivity in Bablyon. Verse 21 says that fast was proclaimed in order to seek God for direction. Instead of attempting to handle things on their own, Israel chose to seek God first. Verse 22 says that Ezra was ashamed to ask the king for escorts because he had been bragging about the Lord saying “The hand of God is upon all those for good who seek Him, but against all those who forsake Him”. When we seek the Lord for something, we should do it because we are really seeking Him, not because we have been bragging and are ashamed to ask for help. Whatever the reason was for Israel to seek the Lord, verse 23 says that God answered their prayers.
Anytime I ask God for help in a certain area, it gets easier and easier to overcome it. But the minute I stop asking for His help, it seems that I no longer have the strength to do what I asked God for help with in the beginning. Ladies, we can’t do anything in this world on our own. I want to seek God in everything I do. Whether it is something as small as help with my weight loss, or something as big as starting a clothing line, I don’t want to go at it alone. I invite you to do the same.
