Serving God Is What Matters Part 1 of 2
I remember a conversation that my mother and I had a couple of months ago. God had put it on her heart to join the nurses guild at her church. On a search for her uniform, she stressed to herself because she didn’t want to spend a lot of money on it. I suppose this lack of funds discouraged her. She told me that God dropped into her heart that her concern was to serve Him. Money didn’t matter. She began to believe God for help in finding this uniform and she found it at a Salvation Army. She said it was hanging right at the door as sh walked in like it was waiting for her. She even found shoes! I believed my mother was blessed because she focused on serving God. She went on to church that day and served. She said she really enjoyed herself.
God wants us to serve Him. That’s all that matters. Our roles as women in the body of Christ are very important. Never allow the enemy to deceive you into thinking that what you are doing is insignificant and unimportant.
Phoebe
Many scholars believe that Phoebe was the one who delivered Paul’s letter to the Romans to the church at Rome. spreading the gospel and providing believers there with invaluable spiritual instruction and encouragement. In Romans 16:1,2 , Paul calls her “a servant to the church”. In her hometown of Chechrea and writes that “indeed she has been a helper of myself and many also”.
The same word that describes Phoebe as a servant in Romans 16:1 is usually translated “minister” when referring to men, so it is likely that Phoebe was indeed a minister in her church, she did exhibit a spirit of servanthood and humility as she exercised spiritual leadership…
