The Temple of The Lord Part 2 of 4

The Temple of The Lord Part 2 of 4

…continued

While reading 1 Corinthians a couple of days later, I read a few scriptures that made me think about all of this. The first part of 1 Corinthians 6:15 says “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ?…” When we made the decision to give our lives to Christ, we became members of His body, hence the reference to Christians as “The Body of Christ”. Verses 19 and 20 of this chapter elaborates on this a little more. Verse 19 explains that we are the temples of the Holy Spirit and we are no longer our own (See also 2 Corinthians 6:16). Verse 20 says “For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit which are God’s” When Christ died for our sins, He gave His life in exchange for ours. This was the price we were bought at as the scriptures describes. The consequence of sin is death. But Jesus suffered that consequence so we wouldn’t have to.  Now, our lives belong to Him.

The last part of Corinthians 6:15 says “…Shall I Then take members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!” A harlot is the same as a prostitute. When we choose to dress immodestly, we are presenting ourselves no different than a prostitute would present themselves.  A few years ago, during a job interview, I was asked about my goals. I shared my vision for Mod.S.T Fashions and my dream of having my own clothing line with the lady that was interviewing me. For some reason, she thought it was a plus sized line. She seemed to associate dressing modestly with full figured women as if smaller sized women don’t have to modest. Dressing modestly is not just for full figured women. It is for all women…
