Pulling Down Strongholds Part 1 of 2
I believe phrases like “pulling down strong holds” and “breaking yokes of bondage” are phrases we often hear as Christians. When we hear them, we know what they mean. Many of us have probably used these phrases ourselves. However, how many times have you thought or even said out loud to yourself “Things will never change”? Have you “learned to accept” negative circumstance in your life? In doing this, you are building strongholds rather than tearing them down and/or creating yokes of bondage rather than breaking them. When we think like this, we are giving in to hopelessness.
2 Corinthians 10:4 says “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling strongholds”. By this scripture, we know that there is a way to tear down the stronghold and break the yoke of bondage. But what exactly is needed for the job? What is our weapon? Our weapon is the Word of God…our sword (Ephesians 6:7). When we choose to speak or think negatively about our situations or give in to hopelessness by “accepting the way things are”, we are picking up our spiritual hammers and nails and building on to the strongholds. All the while, the weapons God gave us to fight the enemy and overcome these negative circumstances are sitting off to the side waiting for us to use them….
