Let’s Move On Part 2 of 2

I believe that enemy uses our pasts to divert our focus away from God’s call on our lives. Whenever the opportunity to ponder the past presents itself, we can remember what God said in 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”.  After repentance, God has forgiven and forgotten our past wrongs. Why are we still thinking about them?

Once we have made the decision to banish the negative thoughts of our pasts from our minds, Philippians 4:8 tells us what to replace them with “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” Instead of thinking about those mistakes, praise God for delivering you from that mindset. Instead of regretting the past, give God the glory that your testimony can help someone in that same situation.

Ladies, it’s time we stop looking back and regretting the past. When we asked Jesus to forgive us for our sinful living, He not only forgave us, but He wiped our slates clean. When regretful thoughts of the past come around, proclaim 2 Corinthians 5:17. Then begin to thank God for delivering you from that mindset and out of that situation.
