Easier Said Than Done Part 3 of 3
Regardless of what the reason for the may be, the important thing to remember is that the spirit of fear is not from God. 2 Timothy 1:7 says “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Since the spirit of fear doesn’t come from God, it comes from the enemy. However, what God has given is is a spirit of love, power and a sound mind. This is more than enough to get us moving in the direction that we need to go to get our goals accomplished.
Another reason we often talk rather than do is just plain ol’ laziness. We get comfortable in our situation or the routine of everyday life and simply remain stagnant. Proverbs 6:6-11 gives us an example of motivation from a small and unlikely source. Verse 6 says “Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise” Ants are some of the smallest insects. Yet we never really see ants just sitting in one place. They are always on the move. Verse 8 describes how the ants work, “Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest.” I believe if we worked as hard on our goals and aspirations as ants work to provide for their colonies, we would be farther than we are today.
Whatever it is that we aspire to achieve, we have to stick with it. The saying “don’t just talk about it, be about it” is old but true. We can’t get anything accomplished sitting around talking about it. Idle chatter only leads to poverty (Proverbs 14:23). So let’s get up and get going!
