Gifted By God Part 3 of 3
…continued
The other key word in this scripture is neglect, which conveys the idea of being careless with something, or not regarding it’s proper value. That is a danger for each of us. We look at the number of people we reach and presume it’s too small. We develop blurred priorities. We devalue what God is doing in our lives. But the Lord challenges us to not despise the day of small things (see Zech. 4:10)
One woman I knew, who had a unique gift of teaching, is prime example of using a gift at all points of life. As a young mother, she poured her life and her knowledge of the Word into her own children. As an employee in a home business, she not only trained her worker s for the task, but introduced them tto Jesus as well. As a church member, she taught small group Bible studies for dozens of years, watching the Lord change women’s lives through encounter with Him. Years later, as a widow, she embarked on a national teaching ministry, which she pursued until her death. Throughout the years, her focus of ministry changed and enlarged, but she was always faithful to use “the gift that was in” her.
You too, have been gifted by God for a purpose (see Rom. 12:6-8; 1 Cor. 12:4; Phil. 3:12). Stir up the gift that He has put in you! (see 2 Tim. 1:6). Use it, nurture it, and thank Him for it! And you will see the growth, progress, and consequent ministry hat flows in and through your life! (1 Tim. 4:15)
