Faith, Not Self Reliance Part 1 of 2

Faith, Not Self Reliance Part 1 of 2

It seems as though the world has caught on to the idea of believing and receiving. I have heard things like “speaking positive brings a positive outcome” and “good things happen if you believe they will”.  Something like this almost sounds like truth. We know that faith is believing what you can’t see. Even though you don’t see the situation in your favor, you believe that it will change for the better. The problem with the world’s “faith” philosophy is that it leaves out the key ingredient, God.

The underlying message in the world’s “faith” philosophy is self reliance. It emphasizes that things change because by believing they would, we caused them to. Where is God in all of that? Real faith is believing that God will change things. Proverb 28:25 says “He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the LORD will be prospered.” and verse 26 says “He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered.” The proud heart is believing that we change things simply by believing they would change or we changed things by sending “positive energy” into the “universe”. This scripture clearly tells us that this type of thinking  not only brings trouble, but is foolish. When we believe and trust in God as our source, we are walking wisely and we prosper.
