Our Savior Part 2 of 2

Why couldn’t just anyone make that sacrifice? Why was it so important that Jesus give His life? Someone completely sinless needed to make that sacrifice. Since man sinned at the beginning of time (in the garden of Eden), man was no longer without sin (Hebrews 7:26-28). The only One that is and was without sin is God. Jesus was fully God but also fully man. He was God in the flesh. Since He was God in the flesh, He was without sin and therefore able to make the necessary sacrifice for our sins. Hebrews 9:13-14 says “For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

How many of you ladies would give your life for your friends? In all honesty I don’t think I would. My heart is filled with gratitude to God when I read what Jesus said in John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” He then went on to say in verse 14 “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.”. When I think about the price that was paid so that I could have eternal life, I want to try harder to obey God’s commandments and to live like He want me to live.

Hebrews 7:25 says “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” No one can and will save us like God. The word uttermost is defined as “of greatest degree: of the greatest degree, number, or amount” and “at extremity: at the most distant point or extremity.” Some people search everywhere for true and eternal happiness. They buy things to fill an empty void in their lives, they turn to drugs and alcohol to ease their pain and they even look to other people to fill a void that only God can fill. I am forever grateful for the sacrifice that was made just so I could live eternally. I praise God and give Him the glory. I invite you to do the same.
