Weighted Down Part 3 of 3

The beginning of Hebrews 12:2 says “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…” The translation for the words author and finisher in my bible is originator and perfecter. Jesus not only created our faith but He can perfect it so that it is as it should be…like Him. The second part of Hebrews 12:2 says “who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Those sins that “ensnare” us and keep us from being close to God, can be wiped out because of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross. All we have to do is turn to Him.

Jesus said in Matthew 11:28,29 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” The only way to get closer to God is to simply get closer to God. Let’s cast our cares on Him, seek Him and run straight to His arms. There we can find true rest and leave the weights behind.
