However, trials are going to come, and tribulations are going to happen. Jesus warned us of this. In fact He even warned us in Matthew 20:22 that there will be those that will hate us because we belong to Him. I believe this is one of the things to be considered when “counting up the cost”. In Luke 14:28 Jesus gives us a perfect example “For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it” When we set out to do something that requires money, we first check to see if we have enough money to do what we are trying to do. Verse 33 goes on to say, “So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.” We have to remember what is required of us if we are to follow the Lord and do it right. We have to be willing to endure harsh opinions, snide remarks, and strange looks from those around us that don’t understand our decision to follow the Lord.
The reward for enduring is so sweet! 1 Peter 5:4 says “and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.”…
