Beautiful Inside and Out Part 3 of 3

Beautiful Inside and Out Part 3 of 3

The next thing we do to make our spiritual selves look good is through prayer. When we spend time with God, it shows. A natural example of this can be found in Exodus 34:28-30. Moses had spent some time on Mount Sinai with God. When he came down from the mountain, his face was shining. He didn’t know it but those around him saw it. When we spend time with God, we too will shine. Others will see it and we may not even know it.

When we spend too much time on our outward appearances, we end up like the daughters of Zion as described in Isaiah 3:16-26. Verse 24 says, “And so it shall be: Instead of a sweet smell there will be a stench; Instead of a sash, a rope;Instead of well-set hair, baldness; Instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth; And branding instead of beauty.” This is enough to get me on track! It doesn’t look like a pretty picture at all. I don’t think I would want to be around someone like this either. If we look like this, chances are, no one would want to be around us.

In a world obsessed with outer beauty, we have to be careful not to get pulled in. I believe it’s natural as a women to want to look nice and to take pride in the way we look. However, as Christians, the outer appearance is no longer our first priority. When we leave this earth (via death or the rapture) all of the makeup, clothing and weave won’t matter. God looks at the inside and will judge us by our works. I want Him to say “well done” when it’s my turn to step forward and give an account of what I have been up to on earth. I am challenging myself to take better care of my spirit man. I encourage you to do the same.
