Choosing Peace Part 2 of 2
The next thing in choosing peace is to trust God. The end of Isaiah 26:3 says “… Because he trusts in You.” By casting our cares on the Lord, we are activating our faith and trust in Him. We are believing that ALL things (even the bad) really do work together for the good to those who love God (see Romans 8:28). After we have given Him our problems we can thank Him for the victory. Guess what… it’s done. We don’t even have to worry about it. This is another way of keeping our minds stayed on God.
A perfect example of this being put into action is the incident that took place with Jesus and His disciples in Luke 8:22-25. While sailing across a lake, a windstorm came. Suddenly, the boat began to fill up with water. If they didn’t do something fast, they would sink and probably drown. The disciples ran to where Jesus was sleeping and woke Him up. Verse 24 says “And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm.” When we give our problems to the Lord, HE takes acre of them, This we can be sure of.
With God all things are possible. He wouldn’t have promised us peace it it weren’t attainable. Just as there is calmness in the eye of a hurricane, there is a place of peace and serenity in the center of life’s storms. All we have to do is choose the place of peace by keeping our minds on the Lord. The anxieties of life will try to block us from seeking Him. However, be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God (Philippians 4:6).
