ACTION! Part 3 of 3

ACTION! Part 3 of 3

…continued

The woman told them how she had lived a double life. She went to church, knew the “Christian lingo”, and even knew how to act like a Christian. However, she dabbled in sin. Jesus gave her many chances to repent and turn her life around. Yet, she chose a sinful lifestyle over Him.  Isaiah 29:5 says “Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the LORD, And their works are in the dark; They say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?” This woman had people fooled. But God wasn’t fooled. People only see the outside, or what we allow them to see. But, God sees our hearts (1 Samuel 16:7)

The Lord desires that we follow Him wholeheartedly Not with empty actions out of habit or duty and not with one foot in church and the other foot in the world.  Simply being a church member will not get you into Heaven. I have heard of people that go back to the world after being hurt by Christians. There is no buddy system and we cannot blame our sin on the actions of others. When it is our turn at judgment, we won’t be able to say “well, I backslid because so and so did this to me”. Revelation 20:12 says that we will be judged by our works.

If you are reading this today and the Lord is telling you to get it together, I encourage you to stop, take a moment to pray and ask God to forgive you. Then, ask God to help you to live in a way that is pleasing Him. Listening to Mary K. Baxter’s testimony caused me to take a close look at my walk with the Lord. I pray everyday that God helps me to live in a way that is pleasing to Him. I also ask God to take everything out of me that is not like Him. I encourage you to do the same.
