“It is Finished” Part 2 of 2

In Exodus 38:8, the women gave up their mirrors so that the laver for the tabernacle could be made. What does this have to do with looking back at the past and progressing into the future? These women chose to see the fire of the sacrifice over seeing their own reflection. So often, our own reflections stop us from reflecting God and our destiny of serving Him. We focus so much on ourselves, our sins and our inabilities that we lose focus on Him. Sometimes, this happens and we aren’t even aware that it is going on. Not only does it cause us to lose focus on God, it can also cause fear. This fear also prevents us from making progress into the future.

Isaiah 61:7 talks about getting double for shame. When we give our pasts, our sins, inabilities and everything else that stops us from moving forward to God, God gives us double. So, lets give God our mirrors as the women of Exodus 38:8 did. When we give Him our pasts He can and will make all things new.
