Because He Died…

Because He Died…

One can always tell that Easter is coming up. Suddenly, retailers advertise their dresses and suits, the giant pink bunny is set up in the mall for children to have their picture taken, grocery stores put eggs on sale, and lets not forget the endless chocolate commercials. But, Easter is not about eggs, chocolate, bunnies, and dresses. We celebrate Easter…because Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

We should always praise God for the sacrifice that He made so that we could be set free. But Easter is a special day, a day to take time a reflect on how much of a sacrifice that really was. Scholars, educators, and many others debate o the actual day that Christ rose from the grave. I have heard people say that if Jesus died on Friday, how can He rise on Sunday if He rose three days after He died? I don’t think the specifics are as important as the event itself.

Because Jesus died, our names can be written in the Lambs Book of Life. Because He died, we don’t have to go to hell, we can be forgiven and live in Heaven for eternity. In a post title “It is Finished” I talked about how when Jesus said “it is finished” before dying on the cross, He wasn’t just talking about the suffering He endure there. I believe He was talking about our sins and our past mistakes as well.

There is nothing we can do to be forgiven…except ask for forgiveness. In other religions, one must perform a certain task, or bring and offering to appease a “god” en-order to be forgiven.  Isn’t it awesome that God doesn’t require that from us?! John 3:16 is one of the most known scriptures in the Bible. It tells us why we can be forgiven and how to receive everlasting life:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

If you are reading this today and you have not accepted Jesus into your heart and your life, I strongly encourage you to do so. My sister, it is not by accident that you read this today.  I believe one of the tricks of the enemy is to get you to believe that you have done so much wrong that you cannot be forgiven. The enemy wants discourage you from seeking God, so he can try to pull you further and further away. Don’t allow him to trick you No matter what you have done, where you have been, or how terrible you think your sins are, Jesus died so that you…yes you could be forgiven and set free.

Give your life to God today. To do this you can pray this prayer or one similar:

Lord Jesus,

Come into my heart, I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and rose 3 days later. I ask you to forgive me for the wrong that I’ve done. Change me and give me a clean heart, so that I can be pleaseing to you.

In Jesus name, Amen.
