Awaiting the Master’s Return Part 1 of 3

Awaiting the Master’s Return Part 1 of 3

When we got our little dog Minnie, I never knew that God would use her to minister to me and teach me things. It sounds funny but it’s true. For example, if she does something she is not suppose to do, I have to punish her. I don’t like to punish her (she’s so cute!!!). But, I do it because it is for her own good. It makes me notice the way we are with God. When we do things that we shouldn’t do, God punishes us. He doesn’t like to but He does it because He loves us and it’s for our own good (see Hebrews 12:6).

Another lesson of the sort came to me a week ago. Every time my husband leaves the house, Minnie watches the door and intently waits for him to return. It’s not like she’ll watch the door for a little bit only to forget and go off to do something else. She positions herself so she can see the front door and watches it almost the entire time he’s gone. Sometimes, she’ll play a little bit or sit near me. But, for the most part, her focus is on the door until he comes home. As I watched her, I thought about our “waiting behavior” as Christians. We as Christians know that Christ will return. We even know that His return will be unexpected and that we are to be ready at all times. However, we don’t always act like we know Christ will be returning. More often than not, we act as if He’s not coming back and we won’t be held accountable of our actions on earth…
