Molded by God Part 2 of 2

Molded by God Part 2 of 2

…concluded

Sometimes, I get frustrated with myself. It seems that as soon as God helps me to overcome one thing, I discover another and have to once again seek His face to overcome another issue.  I know that God never gets tired of helping me. He wants me to seek Him for all of my shortcoming. I can’t do anything without Him. But who wants to mess up? I don’t think anyone wants to have shortcomings. The Holy Spirit really ministered to me while I read Jeremiah 18:4-6. I felt as if the Lord was reminding me that no matter how many shortcomings and mess ups I have, if I seek Him, He can fix them.

The Conclusion of “Being Molded by God”

The next step for the figurines would be for them to be painted. This was my favorite part because the figurines would begin to become alive. My mother would carefully paint the eyes, coloring them in to become as life-like as possible. Not only does God strengthen us with His word, He gives us life. God is life and light. Therefore, we too shine with His light. When we surrender to God’s will, we begin to take on a brighter color. One of dictionary.com’s definition for surrender is “to yield (something) to the possession or power of another”. Totally surrendering to God’s will for us means we give up ourselves. Dying to ourselves, is not only deny our flesh, it is denying our own will and saying “not my will, but Your will be done God”.

Sometimes, my mother would coat the figurines with a lacquer. This would cause them to be very shiny. However, they would have to go back into the kiln and be fired for them to take on the “glossy” look that was desired. Many times, we too have to go through the fire multiple times so that we can take on the form that God needs us to have.

God has a unique purpose for each and everyone of us. But we have to surrender to Him totally as a lump of clay with no form. Only then will He be able to shape us and mold us to fit the design He has planned for us. God knows exactly how we need to be shaped. Let’s truly surrender our all to Him so that He can use us for His divine purpose.

“But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.” ~Isaiah 64:8

If you are like me, don’t be discouraged when you find another shortcoming. Continue to seek the Lord. Go after Him harder and stronger. Allow the Lord to mold you and shape you into what He wants you to be.
