Getting Exercise Part 2 of 2
The second part of 1 Timothy 4:8 says “…having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come” this tells us the results of spiritual growth. More often than not, we get caught up in the religious aspect of Christianity and focus so much on our ultimate destination, Heaven. We forget that we have to live here on earth first. The second part of 1 Timothy 4:8 is a subtle reminder that being spiritually strong and godly helps us to have a good life here on earth as well as the promise of going to Heaven. When we seek to strengthen our spirits, life gets easier. I believe we are also blessed in other areas of our lives. In fact, I believe when we strive to be spiritually strong we are able to exercise and get physically fit because we know to seek Him in that area as well.
I believe that when we are to be good stewards, we are to do so with everything. This includes our physical health and wellness. Many times, we strive to lose weight or tone problem areas to look good in our clothing. We don’t really take into account that exercise is actually good for us in the long run. Let’s not limit this to just exercise either. Some of us spend time at the salons getting our hair and nails done. We may even spend time in our closets putting the right outfits together. 1 Timothy 4:8 tells us that yes, physical exercise does render some benefits, but exercising our spirits and living a godly life benefits us everywhere.
Ladies, I would like for you really take some time to think. How much time are you spending on the spiritual man? If you have found that your are lacking in some areas as I found myself, ask God to forgive you. And ask God to help you make the necessary changes. We cannot make changes in our lives without Him.
