Pressing On

Pressing On

Imagine God calling you to preach the gospel in regions of the world where your life would be at stake. It’s easy to sit in the comfort of your home and say “yes I would go” But, could you still say “yes, I’ll go” knowing that you could be put to death for simply preaching the Word of God? That would really be a test of faith huh?!

While reading the book of Acts the other day, I realized just how committed to preaching the gospels the apostles were back in those days. Act 14:1-7  gives one incident where life was at stake for preaching God’s word. Each time, an attempt was made on these apostles lives, they simply left that city and continued on to another city to preach the gospel.

Many of us find ourselves like Jonah. ..running away from God’s call because of fear. In a way, Jonah was in the same predicament as the apostles. God called Jonah to preach His word in  Nineveh. But Nineveh was an Assyrian city (see Is 37:37). These people were enemies of the Israelites. So, no doubt it was dangerous. Jonah chose to run away and hide. Eventually, he did answer God’s call and the people of Nineveh turned from their ways and repented.

One important thing I noticed while reading Acts, was that in every situation these apostles encountered, God stepped in and intervened. Whether it was by allowing the apostles to flee, or by sending angels to release them from prison, God never left their sides. Ladies, we have a job to do. As Christians, we have to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ no matter what the cost. There are people that need to hear the truth. Let’s press on and not allow our fears to stop them from hearing the good news of Jesus Christ.
