That’s Not Really Your Problem Part 2 of 2

2 Chronicles 20:17 gives us great instructions on how to receive God’s relief from trouble. During this time, Judah was is a huge battle. There were like 3 different armies coming against them at one time. So, Jehoshaphat went to God and prayed about it. I’m sure they were afraid (I know I would have been). God told Jehoshaphat in verse 17 that Judah didn’t even need to fight this battle and to just stand still and watch the salvation of the Lord. So they did what God told them and the armies slaughtered each other. Judah was then able to go and take the spoils from a battle they didn’t even have to fight.

To me, this situation represents the troubles we face in life. Sometimes, things come at us like 3 huge armies. But, when we begin to feel boxed in and afraid the first thing we want to do is run. When God tells us to “fear not” He is basically telling us not to act on the emotion of fear and run. He wants us to stand. Running isn’t the only way to act on the emotion of fear. I believe worrying is another way. God doesn’t want us to do that either. That is why Jesus said in John 16:33 to “be of good cheer”.

I remember last year, my mother called me and told me about something that had  happened to my dad. It caused him to have to go to the hospital.  After talking to her on the phone, I prayed about it. After I prayed I was suppose to let it go. But it just kept nagging me and nagging me. I was so worried. Now, I could have went on and let it plague my mind. But I had to make a decision to just let it go and quit worrying about it. It wasn’t my problem anymore. I had given it to God, He was going to take care of it and everything would be fine.

I know how hard it can be to just let things go and not worry about them. But just remember that God is fighting for you. Sometimes, we have to make a decision to do it. We can control what we think about. So, we can control whether we are constantly worrying about a situation or not. Whatever you are going through today, or whatever you may go through tomorrow, give it to God, stand still, and watch the salvation of the Lord.
