Mod.s.t Fashions’ Look of the Week: Patterns

Mod.s.t Fashions’ Look of the Week: Patterns

Patterns are another huge trend this season. Runways everywhere saw a number of plaids, polka dots, abstract, and geometric inspired print this season. Personally I’ve always been a bit apprehensive about wearing pattered clothing. This season, I’ve decided to step outside of my fashion box and give a few of these patterns a try.

I’ve done some brain storming and came up with a few quick tips on how to wear the pattern trend of this season.

  • The easiest way to incorporate patterns into your wardrobe is through your accessories. Try a floral printed shoe, a leopard scarf, or a tartan bag.
  • Mixing patterns was once considered a fashion don’t. Go bold and mix stripes with leopard or even hounds-tooth and floral prints.
  • A modest approach to wearing patterns is to off set them with coordinating solids.
  • Try breaking patterned pieces up and wearing a solid to separate them (as shown below)
  • Sometimes, patterns my not be exact, but close enough to pass as a match (shown below).
  • Try wearing patterned jewelry. It’s a fabulous subtle way to add patterns to your look.

The look below features a patterend sweater and pumps. Solid cropped pants and a solid colored handbag off sets this while matching jewelry polishes and finishes it off. I hope these tips will help you to modestly stay in style.
