Reaping Where We Sow Part 2 of 2

Reaping Where We Sow Part 2 of 2

Yesterday, we talked about reaping corruption from sowing into the flesh, and reaping everlasting life from sowing into the spirit. We know that we can’t reap from the spirit if we don’t sow into it.  Well, exactly how do we sow into the spirit? We sow into the spirit by reading God’s word, prayer, listening to teachings and meditating on God’s word. Every time , we pick up our Bible and study, we are feeding or sowing into our spirit. The everlasting life we get from this is not just a place in Heaven. It’s stability during  trials, a closer relationship with God, and a better life over all.

When we choose to do what’s right because it’s the right thing to do and not because it feels right, we are also sowing into our spirits. When we allow trials and tribulations to discourage us, think negative thoughts, harbor feelings of bitterness and anger, we aren’t feeding our spirit. We are sowing into our flesh. We can sow into our flesh in other ways as well. Some of those ways are through gossip, backbiting, listening to secular music, and watching television shows and movies that aren’t wholesome.

In my opinion, the best way to begin sowing into our spirits is by asking the Holy Spirit to guide us in everything we do. Not long afterwards, conviction will flood our hearts when we get ready to do or say something that’s not spiritually beneficial. What we put in is what we get out. Where we put it is where we get it. I love the song “Garbage in, Garbage Out” By Tal & Acacia. It’s full of truth. I thought I’d share it with you today. So, let’s take inventory of where and what we’ve been sowing and ask God to help us change where necessary.
