Wasting Time Part 3 of 3
We left off yesterday talking about how bitterness and unforgivness can affect us physically. I’ve personally felt unforgivness as a nagging feeling that wouldn’t leave me alone. Once I made the decision to forgive, that nagging feeling went away and I felt lighter. More importantly, bitterness and unforgivness displeases God. Matthew 6:15 tells us that if we don’t forgive one another, God will not forgive us.
Among other ways, the final way to waste time is by trying to do what only God can do. In a post title “Ms. Fix It“, I talk about how I would often ask God for something and run ahead and try to fix the problem myself. When I would do this, I would only make it worse. Now, I have a bigger problem or even several problems. A total waste of time could have been avoided if I would’ve simply waited on God. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to cast our cares on God. Doing otherwise is just a waste of time. To avoid wasting time, we must turn out “try” into “trust.” And trust God to deal with our issues.
All of these are just a few ways we could waste time and not know it. Truthfully, doing anything other than what God’s word tells us is a waste of time. The best way for us to find out if we are wasting time, is to ask God to show us how we’re wasting time, and then ask Him to help us to improve. I don’t want to waste time on things that displease God and are not productive. I am going to ask Him to help me in these areas. I invite you to do the same.
