Mod.s.t Fashion Look of The week: Clashing Colors

Wearing clashing colors together like red and pink, blue and green, and even black and brown used to be frowned upon in the fashion world. But, today’s trends seem to break these types of “fashion rules”. Nowadays, when it comes to fashion, anything goes. I’m not really into wearing red and pink together. But, every now and then, I’ll see a woman with this color combo and think “that’s cute”.  So just how  can you wear colors that clash yet still be modest?

Here are a few tips on how to modestly wear colors that clash…

• Pair a bold color with a pastel or softer color. (shown below)
• Avoid patterns and allow the colors to make the statement. Instead, try pieces with textures such as a chunky knit sweater, a silk blouse, or even solid snakeskin.
• Color blocking is also a great way to wear clashing colors (shown below)
• A softer color will tone the brighter color down. Try layering a pink cardigan over a red blouse (shown below)
• Avoid colored jewelry. Try styling your look with solid gold or silver chunky jewelry.
• Nude and beige are great go-to colors when you can’t figure out what color shoes and bag to wear. (shown below)
• Clashing colors make a great subtle statement when only worn in your accessories.

I hope these tips will help you to modestly wear clashing colors. Remember to have fun when putting clashing colors together. Think outside of the box and don’t be afraid to try something new.
