The Growth Process Part 1 of 3
I can remember as a young girl having to learn lessons through the belt…it hurt. However, these lessons never left me. Sometimes as Christians, we experience learning lessons in a similar fashion. God doesn’t lower a natural belt from the sky and swat us with it. But I do believe He lowers a spiritual belt down to swat us a few times. The effects of the spiritual belt are usually the same as the effect of the natural belts we experienced as children. We grow.
John 15:2 starts out by saying “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away…” In a post called “Excuse Me Ma’am, You Have a Spot On Your Blouse”, I talked about how God’s Word is like a mirror. When we read it, it’s like looking in the mirror. When we see that we don’t line up with what His word says, we ask Him to help us to remove the “spots” on our spiritual blouses. The beginning of John 15:2 is basically saying the same thing. As Christians, every branch that is produced that doesn’t bear fruit, is removed by God. If it is not producing anything fruitful, it is taking up valuable space that can be used for the fruit. The removing of these branches is usually the “spiritual belt” that God may sometimes lower for us to learn the necessary lessons…Posted under Bible by admin
